Painting again!

It's been a while. The two paintings above have been sitting for a few weeks while I have been extremely lazy after cataract surgery. Don't get me wrong, the surgery and recovery was a breeze. But post surgery you need to take eye drops 4 times a day and with that and other daily activities I just didn't find long enough periods of time for painting.

Below is one I finished after my first eye surgery.

Colored glass

Still having fun with the Canson paper. This is another one that started with layers of paint rolled on with a brayer, but this time I scribbled with Stabilo Woody pencils before applying the paint. After a few more layers of paint I used the brayer marks as a guide for outlining shapes with Staedtler watercolor crayons. The final touches were done with transparent and translucent glazes.

I've been playing with Canson Montval acrylic paper. The top painting was done with fluid acrylics, with extra embellishments from Posca pigment markers. The bottom painting started with a base of brayered-on fluid acrylics, then layers enhanced with Staedtler watercolor crayons and matte medium, plus final layers of translucent and transparent glazes.
