Peeking through the picket fence

Here's a flower I saw a couple weeks ago, peeking through the picket fence, begging to be noticed. And now it has been immortalized in watercolor.

Trying to loosen up my watercolor painting style with this one. I passed these shrub roses on a walk a couple days ago and snapped a photo with my phone.

Still working on my watercolor techniques, this time with another floral painting. Thanks to a beautiful photo I found on this Facebook group.

Floral Collage

 This is my first time painting on Canson Arches art board. I gessoed it before stenciling then dripping high flow paint. Then I collaged some flowers I printed on my ink jet printer. I considered adding some glass bead gel but decided against it. I'm not sure if I like the glazes I used to tone down the background.  Below are some photos of the painting in earlier stages.

I heard a lot of good things about Arches watercolor paper and since I had a 40% off coupon from Michael's, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a 20 sheet block of 140 lb. cold press. I have been painting with Fluid paper blocks, which have the adhesive on the two long sides of the paper. I like that Arches has the adhesive on all four sides.
